As a coach, you don’t have much control once the ball is in play. Coaching in the flow is a significant skill, but investing the moments where your players could have advantages will help make the difference.
Set pieces. Pro clubs are investing in this area. Think, Liverpool and throw-ins. More are investing and more is coming. Arsenal use a set piece coach for their corners, and it works. They score goals.
So, do the same.
Before you buy this. Create your own map. What type of free kicks do you want in the different areas? Remember, it is difficult it’s hard to shoot from the halfway line…
Then think about creativity - Ask your players for their input too.
In college we had the ‘Nator’ which was the driven ball to the edge of the box for a volley on goal. Beautiful design. Never worked. But our Coach let us try it and it meant everything - I still talk about it!
